Major statement regarding Gary Bettman and the Montreal Canadiens

For the past few weeks, when people talk about Logan Mailloux, it is mainly for his hockey skills.

The Canadiens' first pick in 2021 is off to a great start this season with the London Knights with eight points in as many games. He should receive an invitation to participate in the final camp of the Canadian team for the World Junior Hockey Championship that will be held in the Maritimes this year.

However, the whole saga surrounding the Mitchell Miller story has brought back the scandal involving the young Canadiens prospect. It was even learned that he will have to be approved by NHL officials before he can eventually play.

That said, some experts have been discussing the situation and as Charles-Alexis Brisebois of Danslescoulisses.com reports, new details about Logan Mailloux's selection have come to light in the past few hours.

On BPM Sports, Jean-Charles Lajoie mentioned that Gary Bettman was angry with the Habs management for selecting Mailloux in the first round of the 2021 draft.

"Bettman is angry that the Habs picked him against the tacit instruction.

We told ourselves, we're not touching him until the second round. We bent and ended up by picking him at the end of the first round."

This decision by Bergevin has created a lot of turmoil in the population and now that Bergevin is no longer in office, the new management had to go with tact in this thorny issue.

In the end, the storm eventually passed and Kent Hughes finally gave Logan Mailloux an entry-level contract before the season started. But let's just say that the bad timing with the Mitchell Miller story unfortunately brought the whole saga surrounding the Habs' first pick in 2021 back to the forefront.
