On the eve of the opening of training camps in the National Hockey League, we learned today that captain of the Buffalo Sabres Jack Eichel will attend the physical evaluation camp of his team, according to the Associated Press.
There are still many questions surrounding Eichel's physical condition and his future with the franchise, but this is the most up-to-date information on the matter. A person with direct knowledge of Eichel's plans told the Associated Press anonymously.
Physicals are expected to take place this Wednesday, a day before training camp officially opens. Eichel has been out since March with a herniated disc, an injury he suffered against the New York Islanders.
Since then, a huge dispute between the two clans has formed regarding the management of this injury. The Eichel clan is in favor of disc replacement surgery while the Sabres are opposed to it, as it has never been performed on an NHL player.
More details are expected to be released later this week. One thing is certain, we haven't heard the last of this saga.
