Kent Hughes is currently in a press conference, following the acquisition of Sean Monahan from the Calgary Flames, and he really didn't have any good news to announce concerning Carey Price:
"The deal sending Sean Monahan is possible because Carey Price's name is placed on the long-term injury list. He probably won't play this season which confirms his apprehensions after the last game of the season."
Ouch, so Carey Price will be placed on the long term injured list and his 2022-23 season seems to be over (before it even gets started)
So placing Carey on the long-term injured list frees up $10.5 million on the CH's payroll and it allowed for the acquisition of Monahan. (and his contract)
