According to ESPN and NHL Network's Kevin Weekes, Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens are in intense talks to possibly trade goalie Jake Allen.
An announcement could be made as early as today.
This is something to keep an eye on, as several teams are reportedly in the running to acquire Allen. Among the teams interested are: the Edmonton Oilers, the Washington Capitals (who have Ilya Samsonov) and the New Jersey Devils.
"** Keep an eye out for this** I've just been told that several clubs are expressing strong interest in veteran @CanadiansMTL goalie Jake Allen. Among some of the clubs interested, Wash, Edm, NJ, etc." - Kevin Weekes
So don't be surprised if, after Alexander Romanov yesterday, Jake Allen is traded today. If Kent Hughes can get something done with the Washington Capitals, including youngster Ilya Samsonov, it would be solid!
To be followed closely.
Allen, 31, maintained a 3.30 goals-against average and a .905 save percentage last season.
