Major: Jake Allen had a lot to say regarding Samuel Montembeault and the Montreal Canadiens' decision to keep three goalies
While rumors of a trade involving him seriously intensified today, after the Canadiens' game against the Los Angeles Kings, here is a very interesting statement from Jake Allen.
In an interview with journalist Eric Engels of Sportsnet, the veteran Canadiens' goalie once again impressed with his response when asked about how he manages the challenging trio situation.
"I think once we realized that this was going to happen, towards the end of camp and throughout the year - internally, we knew it was not going to be a short-term thing - we just had to accept it for what it is and deal with it," said Allen. "I really thought Cayden (Primeau) had an excellent training camp, Sam (Montembeault) has obviously proven he's an elite goalie in this league, so you just have to have a good way of looking at things."
"But I also think it's been beneficial to us. As goalies, individually, we've played pretty solidly so far this year. We had to find ways to benefit from it. We get more time to train, one guy gets a break and an evening off, it allows for mental refreshment. It's something new for all of us, but we have to approach it the right way."

It's extremely well said and well summarized.
And what about his statement on Montembeault, who is an elite NHL goalie according to Allen! Wow!
