Scoring for the first time in five years in the National Hockey League on Thursday, Laurent Dauphin played a big role in the Habs' win over the Philadelphia Flyers, and he's starting to grow on the fans.
After all, how could anyone not like a hard-working player like Dauphin? He's worked hard to get where he is, and last night's goal was the reward for his years in the AHL.
But none of this would have been possible without one person. It was former Laval Rocket head coach Joël Bouchard who insisted that Marc Bergevin pick up Dauphin, who was then playing with the Milwaukee Admirals.
"One thing must be said, when he was brought into the organization, it was Joel Bouchard who wanted him, because he had often played against Laurent when he was captain of the Saguenéens, among other things," said Martin McGuire.
The Habs owe a debt of gratitude to Bouchard, who is now the head coach of the San Diego Gulls, because Dauphin's performance is a blessing in disguise.
