Last-minute bad news for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens
Just like many experts, we were discussing this with you yesterday, but Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens were closely monitoring what was going to happen today with goaltender David Rittich.
Why? Because according to reliable sources (Kent Hughes himself), we learned in the past few hours that an NHL team is actively looking to acquire a goaltender.
This team even contacted Kent Hughes in an attempt to finalize a trade involving Cayden Primeau.
This is one of the main reasons to explain why Primeau is still with the Habs at the moment.
Kent Hughes fears that this particular team will claim Primeau if he is put on waivers, and obviously, the Habs' general manager does not want to lose his young goalie for nothing.
Bad news for the Habs: Rittich was not claimed
Very interesting situation yesterday, as the Kings put goaltender David Rittich on waivers. A good goalie.
The Canadiens were thus closely following this case, hoping that the team wanting to claim Cayden Primeau would instead decide to go for Rittich and leave Primeau alone, but no.
Indeed, that was not the case. Rittich was not claimed, so everything indicates that Cayden Primeau would be claimed if he is put on waivers.
Kent Hughes will eventually have to make a 'move', and let's just say it would have greatly helped if Rittich was claimed.
