One of the funniest anecdotes was when the two former players asked their guest to choose a topic from the questions on the screen. In the first sequence of questions, the GM chose to reveal his biggest phobia.
The CH hockey boss said he has a great phobia of bridges. He hates driving over them, especially if they have a big incline. It's quite ironic when you know that the GM has to pass at least twice a day, no matter where he lives, on the Champlain Bridge.
Hughes revealed that last week, when he joined the Rookie Tournament in Buffalo, that he was driving. However, he only gave up his seat to Jeff Gorton at one point, when he crossed a bridge in the Thousand Islands area. The DG immediately took over the wheel once the crossing was over.
Not to mention the time he went to the Bell Centre for the press conference announcing him as GM. Hughes, accompanied by his wife, made the detour to the 30 and Vaudreuil to avoid crossing one of the major bridges in the city. However, he had to face the fact that it is impossible to go to Montreal without facing his phobia!
