Kent Hughes opens the door to a major decision involving Sean Monahan, and it changes everything
To conclude our short series of articles about the topics addressed by Kent Hughes, during the GM meeting, here is what he particularly mentioned about possibly the team's best player this season, Sean Monahan.
Will he be traded or not?
"This is a decision we don't need to make right now, but it's certain that we are aware that he is a very important player!"
- Kent Hughes, who definitely opens the door to a contract extension for Monahan in Montreal
Monahan, who earns only 1.985 million dollars this year, could seriously have great value on the trade market, and the temptation will be strong for Hughes to trade him for a high price.
But we believe it might be better to keep him.
In short, Hughes continues in relation to what Monahan brings to the club.
"Wow... It's very positive, it's not just what we see of him on the ice. He plays in power play and penalty kill, five-on-five, he always wins his faceoffs... and it's also his leadership."

This will be a big file to follow.
