«Kent Hughes announced Wednesday that the team has agreed to terms on a three-season entry-level contract with forward Joshua Roy (2022-2023 to 2024-2025).
The deal will pay Roy $750,000 in the NHL in 2022-2023 and includes a $92,500 signing bonus, while he will earn $10,500 if he plays in junior. The contract will pay Roy $775,000 in the NHL for the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 seasons, plus signing bonuses of $92,500 (2023-2024) and $85,000 (2024-2025). Roy will earn a salary of $80,000 per season in the American league.
The 18-year-old Roy ranks second in the QMJHL in scoring with 92 points (36 goals, 56 assists) in 50 games for the Sherbrooke Phoenix this season.
The 6'00", 186-pound left winger is playing in his third season in the Courteau Circuit and has 171 points (74 goals, 97 assists) in 145 games since 2019 with the Phoenix and the Saint John Sea Dogs, who selected him first overall in the 2019 QMJHL draft.
