Wednesday morning, on 91.9 Sports, Canadiens GM Kent Hughes made an interesting observation about his organization. According to him, apart from Price, there is no one in the organization who has the stuff to be a number one goalie.
"Until a goalie shows he's a number one in the National League, you can never know if you have one. I think with goalies it's always difficult, we saw with Jake Allen that he was very, very good when he came back from injury. But we don't have anyone yet among our guards that has shown, year in and year out, that he is a number one." - Kent Hughes Hughes says he's still giving himself time to think about Price. Carey will have to meet with a doctor in the next few days, and the GM hopes he will have an answer, either white or black, by July. If not, he will need a backup plan.
The goalie issue will be the main issue for the Hughes/Gorton duo between now and the draft. Price's annual salary on the payroll, $10.5M, is the key to the upcoming free agent market...
