During the last NHL draft, Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton somewhat stocked up on goaltenders with the selection of young prospects, namely Quentin Miller, Yevgeni Volokhin, and Jacob Fowler.

The latter was the Canadiens' second pick, at 69th overall, and according to some recruiters, the young net-front prospect might turn out to be a real home run for the Montreal organization.
Originally from Florida, Fowler had quite a season last year, with the Youngstown Phantoms of the USHL, where he secured 27 wins, with an average of 2.28 and a save percentage of 0.921.
But it was his performances in the playoffs that caught many eyes, as he helped his team win the championship where he outperformed his peers with an average of 1.36 goals allowed and a save rate of 0.952.
With such numbers, the CH fans can finally hope that the organization develops a talented young goalkeeper and we have learned a bit more about this young prospect over the past few days.
As reported by Nicolas Desrosiers, from the website Marqueur.com, a documentary was recently broadcasted on the behind-the-scenes of the last NHL draft and one can hear the remarks of scout Billy Ryan who strongly insisted that the Canadien draft Jacob Fowler.

It can be said that Ryan strongly defended the young goaltender and in the excerpt below, one can see the CH scout having a quite animated discussion with another Canadien recruiter.
Despite all the praise that Fowler has received since the draft, it will be necessary to arm oneself with patience before seeing him wear the CH uniform, as the 18-year-old will play with the Boston College team in the NCAA in 2023-2024.
But the fact remains that his arrival within the organization will allow Kent Hughes to breathe a little easier because for a few years, the succession in front of the Canadiens' net seemed rather weak, despite some interesting moments with a certain Cayden Primeau, who seems to no longer be in the plans of the Canadiens.
