As we mentioned yesterday, there is a player who is attracting a lot of attention right now and who is really starting to make a name for himself among the Montreal Canadiens' top prospects.
William Trudeau, 19 years old, is a young Quebec defenceman, drafted 113th overall in the 2021 draft. (in the 4th round)
He has 44 points in 68 games this season and has been a top player on one of Canada's top junior teams (along with Xavier Simoneau, another Habs prospect)
Trudeau excelled in the recent playoffs (11 points and 7 goals, in 14 games) Very solid!
We often talk about Norlinder, Guhle, Harris, Mailloux, Barron, Romanov, Xhekaj and others, but Trudeau is another young CH defenceman who is very interesting.
Grant McCagg, who is a former Canadiens scout, made an interesting statement yesterday:
"Trudeau has taken his game to a whole new level in the playoffs. He seems to be the best defenceman on the ice. Very, very high hockey IQ. He's making a strong case for himself to be signed by the CH soon."
McCagg often has inside information. Is that the case here? To be continued, but one thing is certain, it would not be surprising if Montreal announced the signing of William Trudeau soon.
It would be well deserved, and as the former scout mentions, he is a very, very intelligent back who is progressing very well. These are two very, very encouraging signs.
