One of the issues that remains popular with Habs fans is who will be the next captain of the club, because it's obvious that Shea Weber has played his last game in Montreal and because Kent Hughes has mentioned that he will name a new captain for next season.
In an interview last night on 98.5 with Mario Langlois, GM Kent Hughes admitted that he is not taking this issue lightly, far from it!
As we mentioned earlier, Weber himself has been consulted.
Hughes also agreed to go a little further, mentioning that he does not want to rush, go too fast and give the letter to someone who is not yet 100% ready.
"We don't want it to be too much for one player, we're willing to wait a little bit." - Kent Hughes
It smells like a Nick Suzuki appointment here.
Clearly, it wouldn't be too much for Edmundson or Gallagher, who have been ready for this for a very long time.
Let's remember that during his end of season press conference, Suzuki admitted that he felt ready to be a captain and that he would gladly accept the title.
Would that be too much for Suzuki, or too soon? You be the judge, but the Kent Hughes interview seemed to give us several clues.
The next captain is already in the lineup. When asked if the new captain is already in Montreal, the answer was very direct.
For the full interview, here it is here, it is really interesting:
