Anthony Beauvillier is certainly one of the key elements of the New York Islanders' success, but like his team, the Quebecer is having a season below expectations. That's right. Seven points, including only three goals, in 21 games is not much for the talented 24-year-old.
In short, Barry Trotz, who may be getting away with it at the moment, although there are few rumours of a dismissal on this side of New York, has decided to scratch "Tito" from the lineup. Trotz said his youngster lacked conviction (lack of effort).
Ouch! If there is one thing a player can rectify quickly, in the same second, it is the level of effort. Beauvillier is young, he's learning, and this little slap on the wrist might help him understand the situation he's in.
That said, the Islanders, who are 6-11-5, good for last place in the Metropolitan, take on the New Jersey Devils tonight. The Isles have only one win in their last ten games, so they need to break that streak tonight.
We're talking here, but couldn't he (Beauvillier) be an important piece for Jeff Gorton and the Montreal Canadiens?
