There was a shock wave this summer when we learned of the transaction between the Florida Panthers and the Calgary Flames, which brought Matthew Tkachuk out of Alberta in exchange for, among others, Jonathan Huberdeau. The Quebecer always thought that he would finish his career with Florida. That's why he was not in a hurry when he learned of the transaction.
According to what newly retired NHLer Keith Yandle mentioned on the Spittin' Chicklets podcast, he spoke to Huberdeau shortly after the trade and Huberdeau was pretty upset about it.
When Panthers general manager Bill Zito made the call, Huberdeau simply replied "f *** you".
It's hard to blame Huberdeau in this situation. He had just finished a record-breaking, career-defining year at Florida, then he was traded...
Huberdeau, 29, scored 30 goals and 85 assists for a total of 115 points last season. He also broke the single-season assist record in the process.
As Yandle says, Huberdeau is super excited about his new start in Calgary. He also changed his habits when he arrived in Canada, he had several sports cars in his collection, including a beautiful blue Ferrari shown below :
According to what he revealed to reporters in Calgary at the opening of camp, Huberdeau sold his four luxury cars and bought a vehicle much more suited to the Alberta winter, a pickup.
