Horrifying scene: the arena is evacuated and a player is between life and death after being struck by a skate blade in the neck
Today, one of the worst possible scenes occurred during an EIHL hockey game, a professional league in the UK.
Former Pittsburgh Penguins organization member, Adam Johnson, was struck by a skate blade in the neck.
The scene was horrifying, and fans in attendance said it's the worst thing they've ever seen at a hockey game in their entire lives.
The arena was even evacuated, and the 8,000 spectators present were asked to leave.
Johnson played 13 games in the NHL with the Pittsburgh Penguins, scoring one goal and three assists.
It obviously brings to mind what happened with Clint Malarchuk and Richard Zednik.
Out of respect for Johnson, pictures of the injury have not been published. (at least, to our knowledge, after extensive research)
That's the way it should be.
Johnson is currently fighting for his life, CPR was performed, and he was quickly transported to the hospital.
The rest of the match was canceled.
The real concern here is truly the health status of Adam Johnson. Our thoughts are sincerely with him tonight.
