Hockey Canada investigating a coach pushing and slashing a 9-year old child during practice
There is currently a video going around the web that is causing a great deal of outrage.
A report has just been submitted in connection with this incident. It states that a U-10 coach from the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) is accused of rough handling one of his players.
The report mentions the use of a stick for hitting, and even physically assaulting a child.
Strikes with a stick were made on the legs of a young hockey player, and the youngster was pushed.
See the sequence in question. You be the judge:
I was sent this video today, one of several that were purportedly filmed during a U10 GTHL team practice last night.
GTHL comment: "The GTHL is required to report incidents it suspects may be a violation of the Hockey Canada safe sport policies to the Independent Third Party working on behalf of Hockey Canada. The league can confirm that it has filed a report regarding an incident that occurred on Nov. 29, 2023.»
The question is: if it were your child, would you be outraged? Do you believe it's acceptable?
The GTHL has stated that it is obligated to report incidents it suspects of being a violation of Hockey Canada's safe sport policies to the independent third party working on behalf of Hockey Canada.
