The Canadiens have officially announced the signing of a contract extension with him in Montreal. Montembeault, who was set to become an unrestricted free agent (UFA) next summer, will now continue with the team.
See an excerpt from the statement.
"BROSSARD The General Manager of the Montreal Canadiens, Kent Hughes, announced on Friday that the team had agreed to the terms of a three-year contract extension (2024-2025 to 2026-2027) with goaltender Samuel Montembeault.
The agreement has an average annual value of $3.15 million.'
So, it is indeed a contract of $9.45 million over three years for Montembeault, a very reasonable price under the circumstances!
