With the announcement of the Habs' next general manager just days away, a number of rumours involving players on the team have surfaced.

It should be said that it would not be at all surprising to see Jeff Gorton and his future partner embark on a rebuild very soon.

The Tricolore has a lot of veterans right now and there's no denying that many of them will leave the organization.

Among them is forward Tyler Toffoli who has some value on the trade market. The 29-year-old former Kings forward had quite a season last year, scoring 28 goals and 16 assists in just 52 games.

After a difficult start to the season, with only five goals, many NHL teams could take a chance on him.

His contract is very attractive, with a salary of $4.25 million for the next three years.

On Matthew Ross' podcast, analyst Marco d'Amico linked the Habs forward's name to the Calgary Flames. According to him, Toffoli would bring the Tricolore a first round pick as well as Dillon Dube or Jakob Pelletier.

The possibility of bringing a young Quebecer like Pelletier to Montreal is certainly a good idea. Currently playing in the American Hockey League with the Stockton Heat, the Quebec City native is the top rookie with 31 points in 30 games.

Formerly the 26th overall pick in 2019, Pelletier had a lot of success at the junior level with the Wildcats and the Foreurs. A small, energetic forward who disrupts opponents, he would be a great fit for the Habs.

It will be interesting to see which veterans will be targeted as the most important in Montreal, but do you like this possible trade?
