Here are the two worst mistakes of Marc Bergevin's reign

This is a big decision on the part of the organization, pending the unveiling of the next general manager. To help with the wait, Grant McCagg, on Twitter, addressed the issue of what cost the last GM, Marc Bergevin, the job.
In ten years of work, he has done as many good things as bad, But McCagg came to the conclusion that the selection of Logan Mailloux in the 2021 draft and the decision not to match the hostile offer received by Jesperi Kotkaniemi were the mistakes that precipitated Bergevin's departure.
In the case of Mailloux, we do not need to give many explanations. Drafted in the first round (31st overall) at the last draft, Mailloux has been making headlines ever since, due to his criminal record in Sweden. This choice is likely to turn into a fiasco.
For Kotkaniemi, now McCagg defends the idea that the latter was an important piece for the future of the team. In fact, of the nine centre players who were selected in the first round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, KK is the first to score ten points more in his career than the eight other centres combined.
So was it really a mistake not to match the staggering $6.1 million offered to him by the Hurricanes? McCagg seems convinced that it was, and that is why, according to him, Marc Bergevin was relieved of his duties on November 28.
