Many Habs fans were disappointed when Jordan Harris announced he was returning to the college ranks at Northeastern. It's even more of a shame since the young defenseman seems to have the talent to make it in the NHL.

The American just started his fourth year in the NCAA. If the 21-year-old has made a good impression during the Habs' last training camps, he will have a big decision to make at the end of the campaign: sign a contract with the Tricolore or become an independent player.
Since his selection in the 2018 draft, many believed that the third-round pick would sign his entry-level contract and thus make his debut with the Laval Rocket. However, Harris took a much different path, wanting to hone his game in the NCAA.
After over 100 games at Northeastern University, Harris has 62 points and a +24 rating. Described as a mobile defender who can find the shooting line, Harris needs to refine his defensive game according to many analysts.
There could be congestion on the left side of the Montreal Canadiens' defense. In addition to Ben Chiarot, Joel Edmundson and Alexander Romanov, the Habs also have excellent prospects in Kaiden Guhle and Mattias Norlinder.
With his destiny in his hands, this could be a factor in Jordan Harris' decision. The Massachusetts native can offer his services to a team looking for a young defenseman if he so chooses.
Even if Harris has not yet expressed his desire to play for the Habs, it is not a negative. Guillaume Lefrançois mentioned the possibility that Harris and his agent have a plan for possible negotiations. If he mentioned his real intentions, it would probably block any negotiating power for Harris' agent.
Marc Bergevin, on the other hand, has to get along with his former teammate. Harris is destined for a great career in the Bettman circuit. The general manager will have to identify who will be part of the defensive brigade in the future.
In short, do you think Jordan Harris belongs with the Habs considering the depth at that position?
