Following last Thursday's announcements, the Montreal Canadiens' likely roster for the 2022-2023 season has changed considerably.
Here is a new prediction of the Habs' lineup to start the next campaign, now that we have a better idea of the players that will be there.
While the defensive brigade is likely to be rather weak and inexperienced, Martin St-Louis will be able to count on a solid offense, at least on paper.
In trying to build threesomes, we quickly realize that there are too many people, especially if Juraj Slafkovsky does indeed break into the starting lineup.
We're talking about 16 NHL-caliber forwards under contract here, which results in five full trios:
Juraj Slafkovsky - Nick Suzuki - Cole Caufield
Must read on HabsFanatics
Jonathan Drouin - Kirby Dach - Josh Anderson
Evgeny Dadonov - Sean Monahan - Brendan Gallagher
Rem Pitlick - Christian Dvorak - Mike Hoffman
Michael Pezzetta - Jake Evans - Joel Armia
Hard to believe there won't be, at the very least, a sacrifice or two. It's great to have depth, but right now there are a lot of players.
Let's not forget that there is a maximum.
Who do you think will leave in a trade? Hoffman, Drouin, Dadonov or Armia? There might be at least one!
As for the announcement concerning Carey Price, it confirms that the goaltending duo will be the following:
Jake Allen
Samuel Montembeault
