When Jeff Gorton appeared before the media a few weeks ago, he mentioned that the new executive director would be appointed after the holidays.
The Vice President of Hockey Operations wants to take the time to do the right things and select the best possible candidate for his team.
Now we are almost there, and eight potential candidates will all be met next week. This is what TVA Sports journalist Renaud Lavoie said.
The Canadiens selection committee has therefore drawn up its list of candidates for the following eight individuals: Patrick Roy, Mathieu Darche, Daniel Brière, Stéphane Quintal, Marc Denis, Kent Hughes, Émilie Castonguay and Danièle Sauvageau.
While the Canadiens' activities have been displaced due to restrictions in Canada, Jeff Gorton and the other members of the selection committee will take whatever time it takes to select the best person for the organization.
Because of the health measures, Renaud Lavoie mentioned that the interviews will not be face-to-face, but rather remotely.
Without having a specific date, we know at least that this file is progressing and that the future GM of the Montreal Canadiens will be appointed soon.
