The nomination of Nick Suzuki as the 31st captain in the history of the organization has caused much talk since Monday. On Tuesday night, it was the turn of his former coach, Dominique Ducharme, to comment on the appointment on Martin Lemay's BPM Sports.
Ducharme is the most recent coach, besides Martin St-Louis, to have coached Suzuki. So he was able to see him grow within the organization and has a very good idea of the value of not only the player but especially the man. For the former coach, this appointment was inevitable.
For Ducharme, there is no doubt that Suzuki is ready, especially because he was very well trained by good veterans such as Shea Weber, Corey Perry, Eric Staal and Carey Price to name a few. This experience can't be bought according to Ducharme. Even if Nick will have his own style, he will be able to draw on what he has experienced with his mentors over the past few years.
