Despite a rather modest start to his career, Alexis Lafreniere still has the potential to become an NHL star.

His team, the New York Rangers, is one of the nice surprises this season and general manager Chris Drury will no doubt want to improve his roster for the playoffs.

And he intends to do just that.

According to tipster David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period,
Drury would like to make a big splash and Alexis Lafrenere could be involved in a potential deal.

You got it right, Alexis Lafreniere.

However, Pagnotta says it would take an elite player in return and one who has a valid contract for a few more seasons.

Among those, one could quickly think of Alex DeBrincat of the Chicago Blackhawks, whose contract will expire at the end of next season. The forward is having quite a season with 34 goals in 62 games.

Still, it would be quite surprising if Lafreniere was traded one-for-one for DeBrincat, but the mere fact that his name is being mentioned in trade rumors proves that he hasn't yet established himself with the Rangers.
