Colorado Avalanche defenseman Samuel Girard is back in his hometown to celebrate his team's Stanley Cup win and a parade has been organized in the streets of Roberval.
However, it was Girard's celebrations and the fact that he was on the party that got people talking and even the executive director of Éduc'alcool, Geneviève Desautels, strongly criticized the Avalanche defenseman and deemed his behavior unacceptable.
The Stanley Cup in Roberval is a very special event that gives hope that playing hockey is an achievable dream for young people [...]. If the hockey player in question escapes it in terms of excessive consumption and that can give an image of trivialization of excessive consumption, it is a totally inconsistent message."
On the other hand, as my colleague David St-Jean of Marqueur.com reports, there is a tendency to forget that the young man has made huge sacrifices in his life and that by winning the Stanley Cup, he has just achieved his ultimate goal in life.
Meanwhile, Girard showed off his class with a great photo where he allows a young man with limited mobility to touch the Stanley Cup, but that, unfortunately, the media doesn't mention.
Congratulations Samuel and enjoy every moment of your summer!
