As we all know, RDS analyst Norman Flynn is no stranger to speaking his mind and has made some rather unusual statements in recent years.
Who doesn't remember the time he suggested the Canadiens pick up Wayne Simmonds at the trade deadline a few years ago in exchange for Nick Suzuki from the Flyers?
Good thing that deal never happened. Sometimes the best trades are the ones that don't happen.
But the analyst struck again today, and he made another statement on BPM Sports that will likely inflame Habs fans.
As reported by Keven Mawn of Fanadiens.com, Flynn was called in to speak on the "World of Georges" segment with former tough guy Georges Laraque. He had this to say about Juraj Slafkovsky:
"In my opinion, he's their best player. I see him better than Suzuki right now."
Wow! Slafkovsky is very good, but Flynn is going too far on this one, according to many. In any case, this statement really doesn't sit well with anyone.
Even though Slafkovsky had a strong game on Monday against the Maple Leafs, it's admittedly a little early to make such a statement and it's quite possible that the young Slovakian will eventually become a better hockey player than Suzuki. As the saying goes, don't put the cart before the horse!
We'll talk about it again in a few years...
