The 21-year-old winger is having an extremely difficult first professional season, with only one goal in 28 games and eight points with the Habs this year.
However, according to RDS reporter Luc Gélinas, Caufield could be back with the Laval Rocket within the week. With Josh Anderson returning on Monday night, Byron returning later this week, and Tyler Toffoli potentially returning on Thursday night, the possibilities of Caufield returning to the North Shore are extremely high.
The Canadiens are starting to run out of room on the right side with Anderson, Toffoli, Armia and the potential return of Brendan Gallagher eventually. Number 22 absolutely needs to regain his confidence as a scorer, but more importantly his self-esteem as a hockey player. With the Rocket, he will have the opportunity to play quality minutes, to be the team's impact player.
In any case, in a cause like the Habs', there is no point in keeping him in town. I hope that the organization will do everything in its power to develop him properly and restore its reputation.
