This could be the most astounding game in NHL history, as it has already tied the record for the second most tumultuous period. We're witnessing a historic event.
Chaos Unfolds in Canadiens vs. Panthers Showdown
The game between the Canadiens and the Panthers is not even at its midpoint, yet the scoreboard suggests otherwise.
The Panthers lead 9-4, following a thrilling first period where the teams scored a total of ten goals.
This initial period is on par with the second-highest record for goals scored in a single NHL period.
Additionally, the match has seen the incredibly uncommon occurrence of a double goalie switch.
Samuel Montembault was reinstated after being pulled for allowing the Habs' first three goals when
Jake Allen conceded another four.
Though
Sergei Bobrovsky's performance has been less than stellar, he has certainly outperformed Montembault and Allen.
The game has provided a fantastic chance for the Panthers to boost their statistics, with nearly every player earning a point.
It remains to be seen what other records this match might break as it progresses.
