As part of his very intriguing Insider Trading segment, TSN's insider Chris Johnston has learned some important new information about a sanction imposed by the NHL on Russian players.
No Stanley Cup home visits for them
The NHL has indeed announced that Russian players will not have the right, unlike all other players, to bring the Stanley Cup home during the 24 hours allotted to them during the summer.
The verdict is in. The Stanley Cup will not be going to Russia this summer.
Among the finalist teams, we are thinking in particular of the goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky, of the Florida Panthers, and the forward Ivan Barbashev, of the Vegas Golden Knights, who are directly targeted by this announcement.
They will not be able to travel to Russia to visit their families with the precious trophy in case of a victory in the finals.
For obvious reasons, this is a measure that really saddens Russian players, and many have indeed spoken out publicly following the announcement.
At a time when the debate surrounding the possible arrival of the Russian phenomenon Matvei Michkov is on everyone's lips, some are making connections with this announcement, but let's not rush either.
