The Quebec forward had a career-high 27 goals and his team leads 3-2 in the series against the powerful Edmonton Oilers. In addition to excelling in the face-off circle, Danault is on a streak with five points in five games.
While Danault has shined this season, in the hot California sun, with a 27-goal haul, Gallagher has had a pretty rough season with just seven goals and 24 points in 56 games. To think there are five more seasons left on his $6.5 million a year contract, while his former center gets a million less for the same amount of time.
We still don't know what the organization's strategy will be for Gallagher's future with the Habs, and since we know that Kent Hughes is not very keen on the idea of buying out contracts, it could very well be that fans will find the time long with number 11, who has been a shadow of his former self for the last two seasons.
