So here we are, still waiting for a possible trade between the Habs and the Winnipeg Jets involving the Quebec center and the names of Christian Dvorak and Josh Anderson are regularly part of the different rumors.
As Felix Forget of Danslescoulisses.com reports, journalist Murat Ates, who covers Jets activities for The Athletic, was on the Support Athletique podcast, hosted by Arpon Basu and Marc-Antoine Godin, and he mentioned that Dubois might have started dreaming about the CH even before the deal that sent him to Winnipeg.
"At the time of the Patrik Laine trade, the Jets probably knew that Pierre-Luc Dubois wasn't too happy in Columbus and they were probably already aware that his long-term dream was to play for the Montreal Canadiens. At that time, two years ago, they may have thought they could win with him and (Mark) Scheifele. That he would love the city, his family being here (his father coaches the Jets' feeder club) and that kind of thing. I guess they thought they wouldn't have to deal with that scenario this summer, that everything would go so well with his 60-point season and he'd figure that was the place for him in the long run."
But obviously, things didn't turn out the right way for the Jets, who missed the playoffs for the first time in five years, and Dubois recently said he had no intention of signing a new contract with the team.
