Last night, during the game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Florida Panthers, we witnessed an unusual scene that took a very sad turn, as defenseman Joel Edmundson accidentally injured a linesman quite seriously.
It all started after a small spat between Radko Gudas and Edmundson, who was defending his young teammate Kirby Dach.
Edmundson sent a clear message to Gudas with a good cross-check.
Then defenseman Marc Staal got involved, dangerously throwing Edmundson on the ice, injuring an official in the process.
The referee in question appears to have suffered a knee injury and was in pain.
