An unexpected and imminent new job offer for Paul Byron?
A few weeks ago, shortly after the trade deadline, we mentioned that Paul Byron could join the organization as a staff member once his player contract ended. He had been seen several times in the team's management booth with Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton in the last months.
Since then, it has been announced that the small forward will not return to play this season, meaning he will not have played for the organization during his last contractual year with the club.
A recent survey conducted by Marc-Antoine Godin of The Athletic, however, highlights the next job for number 41.
According to CH players, Byron would be the one most likely to become a general manager in the National Hockey League in the near future.
"(Byron) is in the general manager's booth. He's probably learning!"
"Byron, 100%. He always has ideas, he's always thinking about stuff. I think he'd like to do management. I asked him once, and he said yes." - Two Canadiens players
While he is still far from becoming the hockey boss of an NHL organization, it would not be surprising to see him join the CH management this summer. It is known that Byron was always thinking about strategies for the team. He also expressed his interest in management to his teammates.
A story to follow over the summer!
