Alex Picard, who now works on TVA Sports, spoke out about the Montreal Canadiens and their VERY scary, if not very ordinary, defense. He didn't sugarcoat the subject of this one, then it's hard to argue with him on that.

"I'm surprised to see Brett Kulak playing with Jeff Petry. Same thing with the duo of Alexander Romanov and Chris Wideman. We're one injury away from being really pitiful!" said Picard.
The Habs' defense no longer has the sparkle of last year, when the top-4 was composed of Shea Weber, Ben Chiarot, Jeff Petry and Joel Edmundson. A quartet that was scary and that won in the playoffs.
As of today, the quartet is made up of Jeff Petry, Ben Chiarot, Brett Kulak and David Savard. Not too bad, but it could be if another soldier goes down.
The important thing to remember here is what Guy Boucher said about a team and its potential playoff entry: it takes a goalie, a top-4 and two good center players. The Habs are no longer in that box today... except for the centers.
Let's hope that Dominique Ducharme and his team prove everyone wrong.
