Among the interesting names to watch out for in this NHL pre-season schedule is that of young defenseman Alexander Romanov, who was traded this summer to the New York Islanders by the Montreal Canadiens.
Romanov is off to a great start with his new team and has already started to deliver solid hits:
Last night, Romanov got on the score sheet with an assist on Scott Mayfield's goal to help the Islanders win 2-1 over the Philadelphia Flyers. It was his first point in the blue and orange uniform.
Not only did he pick up a point, but according to the very advanced data compiled by HockeyStatCards, Romanov was excellent all night. He was even the Islanders' fifth best player overall and second best defenseman.
See the impressive result:
A picture that says a lot about his good performance of the evening!
Romanov, 22, was drafted 38th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 2018. He collected three goals and 13 points, in 79 games, last season with the CH, for a differential of -9.
