In a recent interview to discuss the exploits of his teammate Alex Ovechkin, Capitals forward Lars Eller made an unusual revelation.
As you know, the big number 8 is one of the best goal scorers of all time. Just yesterday, he came dangerously close to the 50-goal mark this season with his 48th:
What is Ovechkin's magic recipe for scoring goals so easily, even at the age of 36? Obviously, there isn't one. It's pure talent.
However, for the past several years, "Ovi" has been eating the same pre-game meal, and it's not your traditional spaghetti, let alone Sidney Crosby's peanut butter and jelly "toast".
"Before every game, Alex Ovechkin eats a spicy Italian giant sub with "double cheese and extra mayo". During games, he often drinks Pepsi on the bench in his water bottle, and during intermissions, he drinks Dr Pepper." - NHLBreakers
Lars Eller did say that "Ovi always eats his giant Italian twelve-inch sub with double cheese and extra mayo.
Let's just say that Ovechkin has a very different eating plan than Nathan MacKinnon.
