As of September 6, two players are still out of contract with the CH, Cayden Primeau and Kirby Dach. As Bob Hartley reminded us recently, Kent Hughes must absolutely settle the contract of the newcomer before the start of training camp so that he can start at the same time as everyone else.

In his most recent 32 Thoughts podcast, Elliotte Friedman says that Dach's contract with the CH will be signed soon, if it isn't already. The announcement will be delayed as Hughes reportedly wants to complete a trade before making it official.

Just like Eric Engels mentioned a few days ago, Friedman thinks that the future contract of the forward will be for four seasons. We remember that Engels had said that the discussions were going around a pact that will bring an average of $3.5M per season to Dach.

It will be interesting to see if Hughes will be able to acquire help on defense with the said deal announced by Friedman. There have been recent rumors that the CH may be interested in young Montreal defenseman Bode Wilde, who is currently playing for the New York Islanders.

A file to follow in the next few days.
