We all know that Ben Chiarot is the player who has the most value at the Montreal Canadiens because of his contract (a reasonable salary and upcoming UFA), so he could be the first to leave the ship for another destination.
If the Panthers could land with a juicy offer to add Chiarot to their club, the same can be said about the Calgary Flames. Moreover, according to what our colleague William Nadeau of Habs & LNH reports, they would be willing to pay this for Chiarot: Nikita Zadorov and Dillon Dube.
I like the offer, but if Jeff Gorton really wants to build something, will he opt for a first choice and one player or two established players as the Flames propose?
On the other hand, I must admit that Dubé, who is 23 years old, can fit in perfectly with what we want to introduce in the «new» Montreal Canadiens. But if the transaction is actually carried out, Jeff Gorton and his future foal will have to juggle a bit with the payroll since they would exchange $3.5 million in return for about $6 million.
