On Monday, many national teams unveiled their preliminary rosters for the upcoming World Junior Championships to be held at the end of the month in Halifax and Moncton. The CH has seen several of its prospects selected by Canada and the United States, to name a few.
As you can see, the Canadian team passed on defenseman Logan Mailloux. While many believe that this is because of the controversy that the selection of the young man may bring, others say that the problem is quite different.
Indeed, Mathias Brunet mentioned on BPM Sports, Monday night, that the non selection of the defenseman is explained by the big flaws in his game. You can listen to his very interesting point of view here below:
If Mailloux really was sidelined because of his off-ice history, Hockey Canada seems to flat out contradict itself. As Frank Seravalli reminds us, HC selected Senators forward Drake Bratheson for the senior world championships last summer. However, Bratheson was at the center of the controversy with Team Canada 2018, and at the time he did not comment or deny the facts.
In short, this is a decision that creates controversy and causes a huge reaction. Would Mailloux have, at the very least, deserved an invitation, in your opinion?
