A big forward has just been linked as an acquisition for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens and it's Zach Aston-Reese
An insider has just linked an intriguing forward to Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens.
We're talking about the sizable
Zach Aston-Reese, who is solid defensively and has always been a player appreciated by his teammates.
Hockey Buzz suggests that the Canadiens' general manager should be interested in offering a contract to the former Toronto Maple Leafs forward.
"Aston-Reese is drawing interest from the Montreal Canadiens, the New York Islanders, and the Florida Panthers... Could a return to the Pittsburgh Penguins also be on the cards?" - Eklund
It's surprising given the depth up front, but at the same time, Aston-Reese could be an ideal 13th forward. Kent Hughes would have nothing to lose by offering him a professional tryout contract.
And if Kent Hughes can trade
Joel Armia, the door might open for a player like Aston-Reese.
Aston-Reese, 29, stands at 6 feet 2 inches and weighs 215 pounds. He has 80 points (42 goals) in 307 career NHL games.
Last season, we're looking at 14 points (10 goals) in 77 games for Aston-Reese with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was productive in the NCAA and the AHL.
