A sad news has just been confirmed in the hockey world and it is really upsetting. A tragedy.
A 19 year old player, Eli Palfreyman, died during a game last night at a tournament in Ayr, Ontario.
The young man, Palfreyman, suddenly collapsed in his team's dressing room during intermission, and despite all attempts to revive him, it was unfortunately not enough.
"The Ayr Centennials regret to announce that our captain Eli Palfreyman passed away last night.
We ask for your prayers and support for Eli's family and each of our players. Our Centennials organization and the Ayr community are in mourning.
The doctors will have more answers for us in the coming days. Out of respect for the family's right to privacy, we will not speculate at this very difficult time. The nation of Cen also needs time to heal during this devastating time."
Palfreyman was a draft pick of the Peterborough Petes (OHL) and had just been named captain of his team. He was a talented and bright young man.
Our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. This must be a truly terrible ordeal.
