A JOB OFFER THAT COULD HAVE CHANGED EVERYTHING

Did you know that Ducharme could have had the current head coach of the Montreal Canadiens as his assistant last year?

That's right! Prior to the opening of the Habs' training camp last September, Ducharme reportedly contacted his good friend and former teammate with the University of Vermont, Martin St. Louis, to become his assistant (according to journalist Marc-Antoine Godin of The Athletic).

That's pretty incredible, when you think about it.

However, due to his family situation, St. Louis had turned down Ducharme's offer and Trevor Letowski eventually became his assistant. But according to the journalist, St-Louis was really the plan A, which is obviously quite ironic when you know what happened next.

Could things have been different at the beginning of the season last year with Martin St-Louis as assistant coach?

It's hard to say, but let's just say that his arrival at the helm of the team in February changed a lot of things. We have a feeling that a certain Cole Caufield would have appreciated St-Louis' presence at the beginning of the season.
