We all know that sports fans can be extremely passionate-especially during a championship like the Stanley Cup Final.

However, some clearly cross the line, and it's important to call that out loudly and clearly.
Over the past few hours, the wife of Edmonton Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner, Chloe Skinner, shared an extremely sad and disturbing message.

Stuart Skinner, His Wife, and Their Children Are Victims of Serious Threats: A Heartbreaking Announcement

These are incredibly disturbing distractions for the Oilers goalie to deal with-especially in the middle of the Stanley Cup Final.
Skinner reportedly had to take real measures, and spend money, to ensure the safety of his family..
We are speechless.
"As reported by journalist Colton Pankiw of DH Sports, the wife of the Oilers' number one goalie, Chloe Skinner, spoke out in an interview, revealing that their family has been receiving serious threats from anonymous fans."
- Marco Normandin, HABSolumentFan
Here is the message in question:
"Sometimes, the goalie becomes a bit of a punching bag for the fans, but this year things have gotten way more intense.

There have been times we've had to call in security because I've been receiving private messages with serious threats against me and the kids, all from anonymous accounts.

It's disgusting.

These people are threatening to take us out if they see us in person.

I've genuinely felt afraid at times and I worry about the safety of my family and our two young sons.

It's terrifying to think people could want to hurt us over the result of a hockey game.

These people are unwell."
Chloe Skinner

It's heartbreaking to read and hear, especially since Chloe seems genuinely terrified right now.
Poor Chloe, poor Skinner, and poor kids.. How can fans possibly take it this far? Seriously..
As Marco points out, when reading things like this, it's hard to blame certain players for wanting to move to quieter markets-especially after living through such a nightmare.
We're sending positive thoughts to the Edmonton Oilers goalie and his family, and we truly hope these threats and behaviors stop immediately.
