In the past few minutes, the Edmonton Oilers announced the signing of the forward Raphaël Lavoie.
They even included a small note in French in their announcement. It may not be significant, but it's still a nice gesture that many teams don't do, especially for a Quebecer (originally from Chambly).
This is a one-year contract extension, two-way, with a value of $874,125.
Last season, Lavoie, 22 years old, was the leader in goals for the Bakersfield Condors, the Oilers' AHL affiliated club, with 25 goals. He was drafted 38th overall in 2019, about twenty spots behind Cole Caufield.
It's worth noting that at the time, many experts predicted Lavoie would be selected by Montreal with the 15th overall pick (which was used to draft Cole Caufield).
