SIGNING ALERT: Former First Round Pick and Montreal Canadien Stefan Matteau Has Returned to the NHL

In the category of "we never thought we'd ever hear about him again," we've just learned that forward Stefan Matteau is back in North America!

After a stint in Europe, the former first-round pick has signed a professional tryout contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Interesting.

We wish the former Montreal Canadien all the best.

Matteau, 29 years old, is a 6-foot-2, 210-pound forward. He was drafted 29th overall in 2012 by the New Jersey Devils and was traded to the Montreal Canadiens in 2016 in exchange for Devante Smith-Pelly.

He has accumulated 11 points in 92 NHL career games, but a solid 20 points in 10 games last season in the DEL.

Good luck to him!
