Over the past few hours, following the absence of Mikko Rantanen, the Colorado Avalanche coaches have made some interesting changes to their lineup, and this is great news for Jonathan Drouin.
See their new power play units.
PP1 Johansen- Drouin- Makar- Lehkonen- MacKinnon
PP2 Toews- Nichushkin- Tatar- Byram- Colton
You read that right.
In addition to being on the Avalanche's first line with star player Nathan MacKinnon, Drouin is now on their powerful 1st power play unit. Wow.
Clearly, we should expect a very productive season from Drouin.
A very interesting fact. He was preferred over a player like Valeri Nichushkin, who had been on their 1st power play for a while and who amassed 99 points in 115 games over his last two seasons.
A 70-point season is certainly achievable for Jonathan, which would be (by far) his best career tally.
For less than a million dollars, he looks like a steal for Colorado.
