It has just been confirmed for Joe Drouin with the Avalanche, and this officially ends the uncertainty in his case
When he signed with the Colorado Avalanche last summer, many thought that his reunion with his former teammate Nathan MacKinnon would be beneficial to him. After collecting two points in his first game in Colorado, he then experienced a major dry spell. This was followed by numerous stays in the stands and a lot of questioning about his future in the league.
However, the situation seems to have completely changed in recent weeks. The former CH player seems to have gotten used to his new team and has really found his rhythm. Not only is he producing (we'll come back to that), but he is also being used by his coach in all sorts of situations.
His coach, Jared Bednar, has greatly recognized his recent success after the team's victory against the New York Islanders. Drouin, with his collection of a goal and an assist, greatly contributed to the team's success.
He confirms that Drouin is well and truly established in the Colorado lineup, and it seems to be for good. Don't be surprised if he signs a new, longer-term contract there. Wow!
As I said before, Drouin has literally unlocked in recent weeks. In December alone, he accumulated 10 points in 15 games. He is now at 21 points in 38 games this season, a pace of nearly 50 points per season. (close to 70 points per season if you remove his nasty streak)
Let's hope that the bad days are behind him and that he can finally fully enjoy his success!
