Misuse: Kraken GM places much of the blame on Shane Wright

Recently asked about the misuse of his young forward Shane Wright, Seattle Kraken general manager Ron Francis had some interesting comments.

He defended his head coach and, in part, blamed Wright:

"Honestly, about that (his misuse), it's partly his fault. He does that a lot, he doesn't want to stay on the ice too long, so he doesn't get as much out of his shift. A lot of young guys do that." - Ron Francis

That's an interesting aspect that we hadn't considered.

As you know, Wright's average ice time is downright ridiculous this season, averaging 7:52 per game. Well, that would be, in part, because of the young forward, who is making mini shifts.

As the Kraken's general manager explains, as soon as Wright got a shift, he would stay on the ice for a few seconds and leave quickly, which didn't help his cause.

Wright will be in uniform tonight against Juraj Slafkovsky and the Montreal Canadiens. He has one point in seven games and will be interesting to watch.
